Divided into several parts, this paper explores the two famous works critically and also highlights the way in which these stalwarts have portrayed their views and sufferings. The influence of patriarchy can be felt on both the genders and they equally suffer physically, emotionally and psychologically. The objective of this paper is to understand patriarchy and its influence with special reference to Franz Kafka's fiction, The Metamorphosis and Sylvia Plath's poem, Daddy. The feeling of loss and isolation due to the male dominance can be widely felt. Patriarchy is a serious issue which has been the area of concern and study from time immemorial. ![]()

Philosophers flourish in these various endeavors, but for the time being, at least, and by a process of elimination, the solution of the riddle has been left to science. They emigrated into the more tractable disciplines not yet colonized by science – intellectual history, semantics, logic, foundational mathematics, ethics, theology, and, most lucratively, problems of personal life adjustment. After the decline of logical positivism in the middle of the twentieth century, and the attempt of this movement to blend science and logic into a closed system, professional philosophers dispersed in an intellectual diaspora.
